Hello there, I'm Susan Gertz
A lifetime of animals and art.
Animals have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. From napping in the sun with our family dog Brutus, to studying zoology in college, to helping people meet barred owls and boa constrictors as a zoo educator — my world has always revolved around the connection between people and animals.
Photography became the way I could honor that connection. What began as a love of light and detail grew into a lifelong practice of capturing the quiet, expressive ways animals share their hearts with us.
Today, at Kindred Spirits Pet Photography, I bring together artistry, patience, and a deep respect for every relationship — creating portraits that celebrate your pet’s spirit and your bond with them.
